StevenBe has conjured up some amazing kits for my Magic Fringe Poncho!! 😆
The sample shown above is the poncho I made (this was the project I was working on at Zombie Knitpocalypse 2019 ). It’s currently on display at in house at StevenBe, if you’re in the Twin Cities area stop in & try it on! The B-Team has put together some enchanting kits featuring my favorite dyers. You can get yours in-store or online at StevenBe.com.
Worked from point to point, the Magic Fringe Poncho features a simple Mosaic (slipped-stitch) colorwork pattern, garter-stitch stripes & Magic Fringe. This means that you’ll never be knitting with more than 1 color at a time and that you don’t need to worry about tension as you carry the yarn up the side of the fabric. (No ends to weave in either!)
The goal with this project is to have a very complicated looking finished garment that was actually very simple and enjoyable to knit. Even if you’ve never knit a mosaic stitch in your life, you’ll be able to make this poncho and look great doing it!
Color Suggestions
You will need 4 colors total (1 skein of each). I recommend choosing solid or tonal shades so that the colorwork will pop. Each color will only touch 2 of the other colors so it’s ok if some of them aren’t as high contrast, just make sure that if you hold 1 in between 2 of the other ones, it will stand out from them. Something like this...
1 skein Anzula Nebula "Floradora" 1 skein Hedgehog Sock "Cereal" 1 skein Hedgehog Sock "Truffle" 1 skein Urth Monokrom 3054

What is Magic Fringe?
It’s fringe you make as you knit so that finishing your project is a snap! By planning ahead when you start your project, you can add this great technique to any project that you want to add some fancy fringe to without hours of tying small bits of yarn to the finished project.
I hope that you're all as excited going into this Fall as I am and that you're ready for some cozy knits. This poncho is the perfect layering piece as we head towards cooler weather and as we get ever closer to Halloween I hope that you'll enjoy casting a spell with your knitting needles & giving one of these amazing kits a try!
Happy Knitting,
Shaina ^_^
