Every year as the weather cools and the days grow shorter, I find myself craving a little extra connection, the kind that happens when makers come together around their craft. That’s why I’m so happy to be joining the Fasten Off Yarn-A-Long 2025.
If you haven’t heard of it before, the Fasten Off Yarn-A-Long (or FOYAL for short) is a celebration of creativity and community. For six cozy weeks, from November 21 through December 31, knitters and crocheters from around the world gather to make, share, and support indie designers. It’s part make-along, part gentle motivation to finish a few works-in-progress, and part warm hug from the fiber community.
This year at Yumi Yarns, my holiday season theme is Knit Together: Celebrate Creativity and Connection.
It’s a simple idea, but one that feels deeply true to this time of year, a reminder that our craft connects us, even when we’re creating from different corners of the world. That spirit of shared making is exactly why I love being part of the Fasten Off Yarn-A-Long, a community-wide celebration of fiber, creativity, and support for independent design.
During the event, you’ll find 25% off select Yumi Yarns patterns with the code FO2025 (November 21–December 4). I’ve chosen some of my favorite cozy designs for this collection, pieces that invite you to slow down, wrap up, and savor the process.
But more than anything, I’m looking forward to seeing what you make. Whether you’re joining the FOYAL for the first time or returning for another year, I hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab your yarn, and make something that feels like home. 💛

As we head into the coziest months of the year, I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes looks at my projects, favorite seasonal patterns, and glimpses into my “Knit Together” theme across my newsletter, Instagram, and YouTube.
I hope you’ll join me in celebrating the beauty of handmade connection this season, one stitch at a time.
I can't wait to cast on something wonderful with you,
Shaina ✨
