The Pigskin Party is back for its 12th season! 🏈 Hosted by BostonJen of the Down Cellar Studio Podcast, the Pigskin Party is a knit, crochet, weaving, and spinning extravaganza that runs alongside the NFL football season—September 4, 2025 through February 9, 2026.
Here’s how it works: the more projects you finish, the more “touchdowns and field goals” you score. Every 100 points earns you another entry for the Grand Prize drawings at the end of the season. You can also rack up bonus points (and prizes!) by using sponsor products, joining challenges, or simply showing up and cheering others on.

It's casual, community-focused, and such a fun way to stay motivated during the season.
Now, let’s talk strategy. Every winning team needs a strong starter roster—projects that will help you get early points on the board, keep your hands busy during kick-off, and carry you through the season. I’ve pulled together five Yumi Yarns patterns that are perfect for Pigskin Party crafting.
1. Simple Scarf (Freebie → Great for Beginners)
Every team needs a reliable player, and the Simple Scarf is that MVP. With easy stitches and soothing repetition, this free pattern is the perfect warm-up project. Great for beginners or anyone who wants a low-stress knit to cast on during the Pigskin kickoff. Bonus: it’s stash-friendly, so you can use what you already have on hand.
2. Springtime Sips (Small & Quick)
When you need a quick touchdown, Springtime Sips delivers. These small, portable projects are perfect for using up mini skeins or leftovers, and they knit up faster than halftime snacks disappear. They’re the ideal pick for earning those first few Pigskin points while you plan out your bigger game projects.
3. Clematis Scarf (Lacey & Floral-Inspired)
Ready to level up your playbook? The Clematis Scarf brings a touch of lace and elegance to your Pigskin season. Inspired by climbing flowers, this design is delicate yet approachable—perfect for knitters who want to stretch their skills and end up with a gorgeous accessory.
4. Springtime Wings (Crochet Afghan Block)
Pigskin isn’t just for knitters! Crocheters can join the fun with the Springtime Wings Afghan Block. Whether you’re making a single block or building a whole blanket, this design is a great way to earn steady points while adding something colorful and versatile to your handmade collection.

5. Smar & Kras Gnomes (Crochet Toys, Fun Stash-Busters)
Looking for something playful? The Smar & Kras Gnomes (Ravelry links) are perfect little stash-busters that bring fun and whimsy to your project bag. They’re quick to make, easy to customize, and guaranteed to put a smile on your face (and rack up Pigskin points).

Build Your Pigskin Starter Roster
Whether you want quick wins, cozy comfort, or playful stash-busting, Yumi Yarns has a pattern to fit your Pigskin strategy (and get you a few extra Snack Shack Sponsor points). Cast on one—or all five—and get ready for a season full of touchdowns, field goals, and finished objects.
👉 You can find all of these patterns in my Ravelry Shop and Yumi Yarns website.
